The front runner for SEC Freshman of the year was recently snubbed of the SEC Freshman of the week honors. The award was given to Arkansas guard, Nick Smith Jr., who had 26 points against Georgia and 24 point against Alabama.

As for the Auburn Tigers, the team is coming off an embarrassing performance against the Kentucky Wildcats, in which they were routed 86-54.

With the loss against Kentucky, the Tigers tournament hopes are skating on thin ice as the team is now considered an 11 seed in the NCAA Tournament projection by Joe Lunardi. The defending SEC regular season champions are hungry for a statement win and beating Alabama would be the signature win the Tigers are looking for.
