An Early Look at Alabama Basketball’s Non-Conference Schedule
In the upcoming college basketball season, Alabama is again set to play a stacked out-of-conference schedule as they are going to go head to head with some of the nation's top programs.
Alabama is set to tip-off the season on November 7th against the Longwood Lancers. Longwood made their first ever March Madness appearance this past season and will be led by 5th-year senior Isaiah Wilkins. Alabama then goes on to play Liberty, @South Alabama, and Jacksonville State.
Alabama then travels to Portland, Oregon to play in the Phil Knight Invitational. Along with the Tide, the tournament is invited Michigan St, Iowa St, North Carolina, Oregon, Portland, UCONN, and Villanova. The Tide open up the tournament against Tom Izzo and the Michigan State Spartans.
Arguably the biggest game of the year for the Tide arrives on December 7th when Alabama will rematch the Gonzaga Bulldogs in Birmingham, Ala. Last year, the Tide defeated the Bulldogs in Seattle and Gonzaga is looking to get their revenge in the rematch.
Alabama will also rematch the Houston Cougar and the Memphis Tigers. Houston last year was a 5-seed in March Madness and made it all the way to the Elite 8 where they eventually lost to Villanova. Memphis will be regarded as one of the most "experienced" rosters in the NCAA with the majority of their team being composed of Seniors and fifth-year players.
Alabama looks to make a huge leap after a disappointing 2021-22 campaign. With many key additions such as the 3rd overall recruiting class in the nation which included 5-star Brandon Miller, transfers Mark Sears and Dom Welch, and a healthy Nimari Burnett.
