Bama in the NFL: Week 18 Recap
The end of the regular season is here. Wow what a season it was. So many story lines and players that broke out. This recap will be a little different than normal. This one will cover the best players overall from this week's smaller slate of games, as a lot of teams also sat and rested a ton of players. Let's get into it.
Bryce young (Panthers) - A big win for young this Sunday against the Falcons. Bryce had five total touchdowns! Two on the ground and three through the air. The Panthers have confirmed he is their qb of the future, and after his final game of the season it is understandable why. He is now the only player in Panthers history with three passing touchdowns and two rushing in the same game. Cam Newton didn't even do that.
Jahmyr Gibbs (Lions) - He single handedly led this team to a huge win and a number one seed in the playoffs. He had four total touchdowns against the Vikings Sunday night. Three on the ground and one receiving. He also had 170 total yards in the game. A great showing and is clearly their best weapon going into the playoffs.
Josh Jacobs (Packers) - A great game from Jacobs despite the tough loss, he extended his streak of games with a touchdown to eight straight. A great season for Bama running backs continues as he enters the playoffs this weekend against the Eagles.
Derrick Henry (Ravens) - 20 carries, 138 yards, and two touchdowns. The King continues to show out and ball. Leading this offense to another playoff berth, the Ravens on the back of Henry took care of business against the Browns on Sunday. This momentum should carry over into the playoffs, so let''s watch the King do his thing!
Will Anderson jr. (Texans) - A great outing for Anderson jr. in this matchup against the Titans on Sunday. He came away with two sacks in this game and two tackles. He was clearly pushing the pocket every time he was on the filed. He should keep full steam ahead going into the playoffs this weekend against the Chargers. He is still top ten in the league in sacks with 11 for the season.
Mac Jones (Jaguars) - Getting the start the past few games over an injured Trevor Lawerence. He played well in his start this Sunday against the Colts, going 20/32 for 225 with a TD and one INT. A good start for Jones and a stretch of games for him as well. Plenty of teams will likely try to see his availability this offseason.
Player of the Week: Bryce Young
Bryce Young (Panthers) - Despite Gibbs' amazing performance, Young's baller status has firmly been planted with his game play on Sunday. An amazing handling of adversity early in the year after getting benched, led him to outperform expectations down the stretch. Everyone should be ecstatic for Young going forward as he looks to continue into a great NFL career.
