Bear Bryant’s Kentucky Win Record Has Been Broken
Paul "Bear" Bryant has had another record broken by a coach in the SEC this season however it was not done by someone at the helm of Alabama. Mark Stoops has officially passed Bryant in all-time wins as the head football coach of the Kentucky Wildcats.
Bryant coached at the University of Kentucky from 1946-1953 all while compiling a win-loss record of 60-23 during his seven seasons at the helm in Lexington. The win record had stood for almost 70 years until Stoops overtook him in wins with the victory against the Florida Gators in Gainesville Saturday night.
Stoops has given Kentucky the coach it needs to compete at a high level in both conference and nonconference games where they have qualified for and won bowl games in the past four seasons.
Bryant and Stoops are the only coaches in Kentucky history to tally over 50 wins during their careers there, giving Kentucky fans promise that Stoops could hopefully rise to the level of one of the greatest coaches in college football history. They just want to make sure that his success remains in Lexington rather than for other programs like Bryant's.
