Bryce Young Makes Program History in Season Opener
Bryant-Denny Stadium was electric Saturday night as the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide football team dominated its opening game, shutting out Utah State 55-0.
Both sides of the ball looked impressive in a near-flawless performance. One player on the field, though, made history in the season opener.
According to ESPN and SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic, Bryce Young became the first player in Alabama football history to record five passing touchdowns and 100 rushing yards in a single game.
The Heisman went 18-of-28 for 195 yards, five passing touchdowns, plus had five rushing attempts for 100 yards and a touchdown in his junior season debut.
The Calif., native is set to have another powerful season, as he is on the 2022 Manning Award Watch List, Golden Arm Award Watch List, and the Walter Camp Watch List, on the Preseason Coaches All-SEC First-Team, and is a favorite to win the Heisman.
No. 1 Alabama plays its second game of the season against the Texas Longhorns on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 11 a.m. CST on FOX. Radio coverage will be on Tide 100.9 and the Tide 100.9 app, which is free to download in the App Store.
