Week 2 of college football has come and gone, and with it came bountiful upsets, close games, and incredible solo performances. While the Crimson Tide had its hands full with Texas, other programs had their own challenges in their matchups.

Marshall at Notre Dame (8) - Marcus Freeman Yet to Win First Game as Irish Head Coach

After a close fought game against Ohio State in Week 1, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish experienced a catastrophic collapse this week against Marshall at home in one of the biggest upsets of the week. Marshall senior running back Khalan Laborn ran all over the Irish for 163 yards and a touchdown.

Final- Marshall 26, Notre Dame 21

 

Southern Miss at Miami (15) - Canes Overcome Slow Start to Stay Undefeated

Miami was a four-touchdown favorite in this game, but you wouldn’t know it just by watching the first half of the game. The Canes only led by a field goal at halftime, but pulled away in the second half thanks to a touchdown pass from quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, a touchdown run from Thaddius Franklin Jr., and a pair of field goals from kicker Andres Borregales.

Final- Southern Miss 7, Miami 30

USC (10) at Stanford - Lincoln Riley Continues Offensive Dominance

The Trojans continued their dominance on the offensive side of the ball with a comfortable away victory at Stanford. Transfer quarterback Caleb Williams threw for four touchdowns, two of them to transfer wide receiver and Biletnikoff Award winner Jordan Addison. The Trojans have scored 105 points in just two games, making them the favorites thus far in the Pac-12.

Georgia Southern at Nebraska - Scott Frost’s Gets Fired

Just when you thought Scott Frost’s tenure at Nebraska couldn’t get any worse, the Huskers find a way to prove us wrong. Georgia Southern prevails in a shootout in Lincoln thanks to a big game from senior quarterback Kyle Vantrease. Chants of “Fire Frost” were heard from the Nebraska student section following the upset. The administration listened and relieved Frost of his duties.

Final- Georgia Southern 45, Nebraska 42

Baylor (9) at BYU (21) - Cougars Rally in 2OT Win

In a thrilling double overtime finish in Provo, the BYU Cougars came away with the upset victory. After two missed field goals from BYU kicker Jake Oldroyd that would have given the Cougars the victory, senior running back Lopini Katoa punched it in to secure the Cougars’ victory. Quarterback Jaren Hall shared a special moment with Oldroyd after the game.
