Class of 2026 4-Star Tight End Places Alabama in Top Five
On3's Hayes Fawcett reported via X on Thursday, February 6, 2024, that Kaiden Prothro, the No. 2 tight end in the Class of 2026, has revealed his top five schools, with Alabama being on that list.

Prothro told On3's Chad Simmons on Monday that the four-star tight end would be in Tuscaloosa for an official visit on June 6. The No. 2 tight end in the class is familiar with the Crimson Tide, having been in town for Alabama's victories over Georgia and Auburn.
Standing 6 feet 7 and weighing 210 pounds, Prothro is an absolute threat any time he gets the ball. The 4-star tight end has killer speed and terrific hands, and the junior tight end is a deep ball threat on every possession. Prothro's size gives him an advantage over most defensive backs, and the No.2 tight end in the class executes his routes similar to a wide receiver.
Georgia's third-best player in the 2026 class helped lead Bowden High School in Bowden, Georgia, to a state championship, completing a three-peat. Prothro posted impressive statistics, recording 1,203 receiving yards, 56 receptions, and 22 receiving touchdowns as a junior tight end.
Alabama is one of the teams competing for the highly touted prospect, with On3's Recruiting Prediction Meter indicating that Georgia is the favorite to land the number two tight end in the class. Prothro has visited Georgia in Athens seven times during his recruitment, giving the Bulldogs a 27.8% chance of securing his commitment. Auburn follows in second place, with Prothro visiting their campus six times and holding a 21.7% chance of landing him. Alabama is currently in third place, with an 11.7% chance of signing one of the top tight ends in the class.
This would be a significant addition for Kalen Deboer and the Crimson Tide's 2026 recruiting class, which currently ranks outside the top 50 according to On3's Team Recruiting Rankings. The class includes only one commitment so far: in-state four-star defensive back Zyan Gibson, who committed on Christmas Eve. Deboer and his staff hope to impress the four-star tight end during his visit to Tuscaloosa in June. The tight end is already interested in Alabama after having conversations with the head coach about how they plan to utilize him in the offense. Prothro told Touchdown Alabama, “I feel like what they are doing this year with their tight ends having a bunch of catches, just making plays, see myself out there just splitting out wide, just making even bigger catches and running the offense.”
Prothro is still in the early stages of his recruiting process, and with 10 months until early national signing day, a lot can happen, but the Crimson Tide are in a solid position and will look forward to capitalizing on the 4-stars' next visit in June.
