After a health scare earlier in the week, former Alabama coach Gene Stallings got back into his regularly schedule program and joined The Game with Ryan Fowler during the coach's weekly caller-friendly segment.

Stalling was traveling to Huntsville, AL early Monday morning for a scheduled speaking event with former Auburn coach Pat Dye held by The Legendary Coaches Group. While awaiting his flight at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Stallings suffered a mild stroke and was taken to a hospital.

He joined Fowler to discuss what happened on Monday morning and also gave listeners his current status.

"I'm feeling pretty good," Stallings said. "I knew something was wrong, but I didn't want to admit it, I wanted to go ahead honor the commitment. So I get to the airport and i'm just totally confused. I couldn't figure out where I went so I just decided I better go to the hospital."

"I had another small stroke, it affected part of my memory, I'm getting part of it back so that's a good sign."

After a few question about the upcoming season for the Crimson Tide, Stallings took phone callers from the listeners as he does every week. One caller suggested the driven former football coach to slow down.

"I need to slow down, you are absolutely right and I think I'm going too," Stallings said.

Stallings coached at Alabama from 1990-96 finishing with a 70-16-1 record and winning a national championship in 1992 by defeating the Miami Hurricanes.

Now out of the hospital, he recovering at his ranch in Texas. He also suffered a stroke earlier this year in Montgomery at a banquet where he was suppose to introduce Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney.

Coach Stallings joins The Game with Ryan Fowler every Wednesday at 5 p.m. and loves to talk and share stories with the Alabama fans that call into the show. You can catch The Game weekday afternoons from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.
