Confirmed COVID-19 Cases Climb to Near 800 in Tuscaloosa County
The Alabama Department of Public Health has now confirmed 799 cases of the novel Coronavirus within Tuscaloosa County. Almost half of these cases--395 of them in fact--have been confirmed in the last two weeks.
Dr. Ramesh Peramsetty, owner of Crimson Care which has several urgent and primary care facilities within the community, noted the increase in a post in the West Alabama COVID-19 Information group on Facebook this (June 2nd) morning.
"799 cases in Tuscaloosa with an increase of 16, all of them came from our locations," Peramsetty said.
"The youngest positive patient today was 5 day old newborn," he added.
In an earlier post within the group, Peramsetty noted that the majority of confirmed cases are occurring in those between the ages of 20 and 40.
DCH Health System is currently providing 70 individuals with inpatient treatment for the novel Coronavirus while an additional 71 patients are receiving inpatient treatment while listed as "persons under investigation," meaning they are awaiting COVID-19 test results.
The Alabama Department of Public Health has now confirmed 18,246 cases of the novel Coronavirus within the state, and 5,609 of those cases have been confirmed in the past two weeks. The ADPH reports 9,355 Alabamians have recovered from the virus.
