It may not be national championship time for many NCAA sports, but Tuscaloosa is proud to be the home of WBC Heavyweight Champion of the World, Deontay Wilder, after his title fight against Bermane Stiverne on Saturday night.

Wilder joined Ryan Fowler on "The Game" tonight to discuss winning the title belt, but wanted to give credit to his Tuscaloosa roots and his local ties in the area.

Many experts weren't sure of Wilder's abilities before this fight; some calling him soft, some doubting his ability to take a punch, and some thinking he couldn't physically last more than four rounds against a legitimate opponent such as former world heavyweight champion, Bermane Stiverne.

Needless to say, they were wrong. Wilder didn't need the confidence of the "experts" to get through this fight. All he needed was his daughter, himself, and his city.

"When you've got strong will and a big heart, that's gonna be hard to stop a man, especially when he isn't doing it for himself, but doing it for his daughter, and not only for his daughter, but for his family, city, and his state, man that's a hard man to beat."

Below is the interview in its entirety.
