A Tuscaloosa Police Department spokesperson said in a statement to Tide 100.9 on Holloway's arrest:

"Agents with the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force conducted a search of a residence in the 400 block of 30th Avenue East this morning. The agents recovered more than a pound of marijuana, paraphernalia, and cash. Aden Holloway, 21, was charged with first-degree possession of marijuana and failure to affix a tax stamp. He was transported to the Tuscaloosa County Jail on Monday morning. Bond was set at $5,000."

The Tuscaloosa Police Department later released Holloway's mugshot after he was released on bond at 10:45 p.m.

Alabama men's basketball head coach Nate Oats was asked about the arrest on Monday night's "Hey Coach!" by Chris Stewart.

"Look, we've got standards in our program. We've got ways we've held our guys accountable," Oats said. "We try to keep everything in-house. Obviously, some of the situations you can't. This is one of those. Situation is a little different when we found out what was going on this morning - I found out this morning. I guess it all went down this morning. We had to suspend him pending the investigation by the UA office of student conduct. We're certainly disappointed in his behavior. With that said, we still love him. He's still our guy. We're going to get him the help that he needs. We're gonna continue to help him any way we can..."

Nick Kelly of AL.com reported on Tuesday morning, details around Holloway's arrest, reporting "Police say they found 964 grams of marijuana" in Holloway's residence. Kelly also reported that Holloway told police that he "only smokes."

Holloway was charged with first-degree possession of marijuana not for personal use and failure to affix a tax stamp. Both are felonies in the state of Alabama, with the first-degree possession charge being a Class C felony.

The University of Alabama released a statement regarding Holloway's arrest on Monday afternoon:

"The University is aware of the allegations and is working to gather more information.  The student has been removed from campus pending further investigation by the UA Office of Student Conduct.”
