ESPN Power Index Predicts Alabama’s Remaining Schedule
Alabama Football currently sits at 3-0 through the first quarter of the season, and the Crimson Tide will return to action on September 28, when they host the No. 2 ranked team in the country, the Georgia Bulldogs.
The ESPN Football Power Index thinks highly of the Crimson Tide, despite a tough-looking schedule. Alabama currently still has to play the No. 2, No. 6, No. 7, No. 15, and No. 16 teams in the country, not to mention the Iron Bowl to end the year.
And yet, ESPN's FPI gives Alabama a record of 10.7-1.7, currently the third best in the country. Texas is No. 1 at a record of 11.4-1.2, and Oho State is No. 2 at a record of 11.1-1.5.
ESPN gives Alabama an 11.6% chance to win out this season, which would finish the Crimson Tide at 12-0 heading into conference championship weekend. ESPN gives Alabama a 100% chance to finish bowl-eligible with six wins on the season.
ESPN also gives Alabama a 22.6% chance to win the SEC, second only to Texas in the SEC. The Longhorns have a 37% chance to win the SEC.
Alabama currently has an 84.6% chance to make the College Football Playoff, second to Texas at 90.8%.
Alabama is once again second to Texas with a 29.4% chance to make the College Football Playoff National Championship, while the Longhorns have a 36% chance.
To win the national championship, Texas is first with a 22.1% chance to win, while Alabama is second with an 18.6% chance to win the national championship.
Alabama is currently a 2.5-point underdog to the Bulldogs according to ESPN Bet.
If the Crimson Tide finish 11-1 or 10-2, Alabama will almost certainly be a lock to make the College Football Playoff, despite a potential loss in the SEC Championship Game.
