Three Alabama Baseball Players Selected on Day Two of MLB Draft

Starting pitchers Tyler Fay and Zane Adams, along with catcher/ outfielder Brady Neal, heard their names called on Sunday as the Crimson Tide continued its strong showing in the 2026 MLB First-Year Player Draft.

The selections pushed Alabama’s all-time draft total to 183 players, with 13 coming under current head coach Rob Vaughn in just three seasons. Vaughn also extended his streak of having at least one player selected in the first two days of the draft for the third straight year, following Justin Lebron’s first-round selection (18th overall) by the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday.

Tyler Fay (6th Round, 169th Overall, Pittsburgh Pirates)

Fay spent three seasons with the Tide, logging 198.2 innings across 61 career games (26 starts). The right-hander posted a 5.16 career ERA with 203 strikeouts to 54 walks.

In 2026, Fay delivered a historical campaign, leading the team with 11 wins and recording 127 strikeouts, the second most in a single season in program history, while also becoming the first Alabama pitcher to pitch a nine-inning no-hitter since Eddie Owcar did so back in 1942, when he accomplished the feat in a 6-0 win against Florida on March 20th.

The Omaha native will become the sixth Tide player drafted by Pittsburgh, the first since Hunter Furtado and Garret McMillian were selected by the Pirates in 2023.

Zane Adams (6th Round, 171st Overall, Baltimore Orioles)

Adams spent three seasons with the Crimson Tide, appearing in 48 games (44 starts), finishing with a 19-14 record and a 5.09 ERA. He struck out 209 batters while issuing 83 walks.

His best season came in 2026, when the left-handed pitcher finished with a 4.58 ERA in 17 starts, striking out 100 and walking only 30 over 90 innings.

The Southpaw went two picks after his teammate Fay, becoming the third Alabama draftee taken by the Orioles and the first since Emeel Salem was drafted by Baltimore in 2006.

Brady Neal (8th Round, 242nd Overall, Cincinnati Reds)

Neal transferred to Alabama from LSU in 2024 and maintained a .279 average over two seasons in Tuscaloosa, delivering 21 doubles, one triple, 13 home runs, and 70 RBI throughout 102 games (98 starts).

The Florida native dominated in his senior season with the Tide, where he earned Second-Team ALL-SEC honors after finishing 2026 with a .316 average while contributing 15 doubles, one triple, 10 homers, and 51 RBI, while leading the team in on-base percentage (.429) and slugging percentage (.541)

The former Crimson Tide catcher will join Lebron on the Reds, becoming the sixth Crimson Tide player drafted by the organization.
