We are 68 days away from the Crimson Tide's opening game of the 2025 college football season, where Kalen DeBoer, in his second year as Alabama's head coach, will lead the Crimson Tide to Tallahassee, Florida, for Alabama's matchup against Florida State. It's the first time since 2020 that Alabama will open its season on the road, and the first time since 2000 that Alabama will open its season on the road in a full college football stadium (2020 had limited stadium capacity due to COVID-19).

Florida State will feature a new quarterback: Thomas Castellanos. Castellanos spent his 2024 season with Boston College, throwing for 1,366 yards and 18 touchdowns, while adding 194 yards and one touchdown on the ground. On Monday, Castellanos joined Pete Nakos of On3 Sports, where he exuded confidence in his Seminoles squad but provided Alabama with bulletin board material.

"They don't have Nick Saban to save them," he said. "I just don't see them stopping me."

The Tide's defense was ranked top ten last season for the first time since 2017, shutting down premier playmakers across the SEC (Carson Beck, Cam Coleman, LaNorris Sellers).

The Seminoles had the polar opposite of their 2023 season in 2024. In 2023, Florida State went 13-0 in the regular season, claiming the ACC title, but missed out on the College Football Playoffs. In 2024, the Seminoles went 2-10, with the lone two wins coming against Cal and Charleston Southern.

Mike Norvell has only had two winning seasons since arriving at Florida State, with Florida State fans growing restless of the back-and-forth results under Norvell. Castellanos revealed to Nakos that not only is he fighting for his NFL future, but the future of the Florida State program as a whole.

"I'm not just playing for Florida State. I'm playing for coaches who are fathers and who have homes and families here. I'm trying to save jobs and win."

If you weren't already excited for the game, Florida State continues to pour fuel on the fire.
