The feeling this weekend seemed similar.

It was just last year when Alabama was set to square off with a small school opponent, while those at the top of the BCS standings were locked into prime time marquee matchups.  It was just last year, almost to the day when the Crimson Tide took care of buisness while others saw their championship dreams fade away.

As the great writer Mark Twain reminded us “History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme.”

While last year involved teams near the top falling on the same weekend, this year it was the teams at the top. Baylor ran wild on Kansas State, who came into the weekend as the top team in the country, while Stanford stifled the second ranked Oregon Ducks.  The story was similar, but at the end of the day the result was still the same: Alabama was back in the driver’s seat.

Now, there will be no third chance. Now, it is the time to finish the same way the Tide ended last season-establishing their dominance over every opponent. In short-they need to play Alabama football.

That starts with taking things one game at a time. Championships are not won in November, but they sure can be lost in November.

The Auburn Tigers have endured one of the worst season’s in their program history this year, but when the Auburn buses roll into Tuscaloosa this weekend, you better believe none of it will matter.  Come Saturday at 2:30, it will be a one game season.

Get past the Tigers and it will be onto the SEC Championship game with national title hopes in hand, slip up and it will be LSU making a trip to Atlanta on December 1st.  Now is not the time to look ahead, it is the chance to take advantage of a second opportunity.

Alabama is in the driver’s seat; where they end up is in their hands now.
