Starkville, Miss. - Alabama traveled 86 miles from its home arena to The Humphrey Coliseum, also known as The Hump, and had to claw, scratch, and fight for an extremely tough win over Mississippi State, 88-84. Alabama advances to 4-0 on the road in the SEC, an impressive record that Alabama will have to continue to defend if the Crimson Tide hopes to secure at least a portion of the SEC regular season title.

Alabama saw a coming-out party by Chris Youngblood, who scored a season-high 21 points in the four-point victory over Mississippi State. Additionally, Mark Sears returned to become the player Alabama needs him to be, with Sears almost having a double-double in the win. He ended the night with 17 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.

Despite the win, Alabama still has key areas of concern, with a roster expected to make an incredibly deep run in the NCAA Tournament in just two short months. Missed opportunities at the free-throw line almost cost Alabama a chance to secure its fourth victory on the road in SEC play. Alabama still has holes defensively as well, allowing the top scorer for Mississippi State - Josh Hubbard - to explode for a career-high 38 points, despite losing to Alabama.
