Happy Birthday, Robert Horry!

Today we would like to celebrate as Alabama basketball legend and seven-time NBA champion Robert Horry turns 50-years old.

Horry played for the University of Alabama from 1988 to 1992 for then head coach, Wimp Sanderson. Horry would start 108 of the 133 games he played and would help the Crimson Tide win three SEC Championship titles and make two NCAA Sweet-16 appearances. Horry is known for being a clutch shooter, however, Horry holds the Alabama school record for career blocked shots (282).

Horry would be selected by the Houston Rockets 11th overall in the 1992 NBA Draft. The Rockets won two NBA Championships in 1994 and 1995. Horry would continue to break records, making seven steals in a game and also hitting five three-pointers in one quarter.

Horry would move on to Los Angeles and assist Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O' Neal in winning three more NBA championships from 1999-2002. However, his greatest success would come as a member of the San Antonio Spurs.

Game 5 of the 2005 Finals, Horry hit the game-winning three-point shot with 5.9 seconds to go against the Detroit Pistons. The Spurs would go on to win the series in seven games and Horry would receive his sixth NBA Championship.

"Horry's game five performance ranks alongside Michael Jordan's game 6 in 1998," said ESPN columnist Bill Simmons.

Horry was the 1st ever player to accumulate 100 steals, 100 blocked shots, and 100 three-pointers in one season. In 2010, Horry was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall-of-Fame. Join us today in wishing Alabama basketball legend a happy birthday!
