After Alabama's 23-21 loss to the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday night, the Iron Bowl becomes a must-win game for the Crimson Tide for Alabama's hopes to make the SEC Championship game and the College Football Playoffs. It's a familiar point for the Crimson Tide, with several teams over the last 18 years needing to go to Jordan-Hare Stadium and win for a chance to compete for an SEC title and a national championship.

This year's Iron Bowl will be played under the lights in Jordan-Hare Stadium, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. on ABC.

Playing in Jordan-Hare Stadium is never easy for Alabama, but the Crimson Tide has come away victorious the last two times it's played down there. Bryce Young led a comeback before Alabama won 24-22 in four overtimes in 2021, and Jalen Milroe's 4th and 31 touchdown to Isaiah Bond secured Alabama's 27-24 victory over the Tigers in 2023. The Crimson Tide's last loss to Auburn came in 2019, when the Tigers won a 48-45 shootout when Alabama was led by backup quarterback Mac Jones.

This year's iteration of the Iron Bowl will feature an Alabama team that is likely playing for its season down on the plains. Auburn, led by interim head coach DJ Durkin, will likely be playing for bowl eligibility, as the Tigers currently sit with four wins on the season, but play FCS team Mercer (9-1) this Saturday. The Tigers would need their sixth win of the season to come against the Crimson Tide if Auburn wants to make a bowl game for the first time since 2023. Auburn has not won a bowl game since the 2018 Music City Bowl, when Auburn defeated Purdue 63-14. Alabama's last bowl victory came in 2022 in the Sugar Bowl against Kansas State, 45-20.
