It has been a tough year for Alabama cornerback Josh Jobe, but the senior made a play on Saturday that may have saved the Crimson Tide’s national championship hopes.

Jobe intercepted a TJ Finley pass that bounced off of the fingertips of wide receiver Kobe Hudson a few minutes into the fourth quarter. Alabama had been held scoreless through the first three quarters for the first time since 2016 and the turnover helped give the Crimson Tide life. It was second interception of the season for Jobe and third of his career.

"I had the feeling that the way we were playing on defense that we were going to have some opportunities and be able to come back in the game," said Nick Saban.

Alabama took over possession at its own 42-yard line. The drive ended with a Will Reichard 30-yard field goal that cut Auburn’s lead to 10-3 with 8:44 remaining in regulation. Eventually, Bryce Young would engineer a 97-yard drive in the final 1:35 with no timeouts to tie the game.

It was a back-and-forth affair through the first three overtimes and in the fourth, Alabama's defense held on Auburn's one-play opportunity. Young would connect with John Metchie on the Crimson Tide's attempt to give them a 24-22 win in quadruple overtime.

Alabama will return to action next Saturday to face the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship Game. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. CT and will air on CBS. The Crimson Tide are seeking their second consecutive SEC-title and eighth of the Nick Saban era.
