Journey to Draft Day: Rashaan Evans Reflects on His Four Years in Tuscaloosa [Audio]

In 2014, a prospect with a family history draped in orange and blue decided to etch his name in crimson and white.

Auburn native Rashaan Evans chose to sign with the Crimson Tide over his hometown Tigers. He was considered one of the top linebackers in the 2014 recruiting class and a Parade and MaxPreps All-American out of Auburn High School.

Over the course of the next four seasons, Evans racked up 137 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss and 14 sacks while helping Alabama achieve two national titles and three SEC championships.

In his senior season, the Auburn native recorded 74 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and six sacks en route to First Team All-SEC and All-American honors.

Over the course of the next several weeks, host Gary Harris will chronicle Rashaan Evans’ journey to the NFL Draft on The Gary Harris Show.

In part one of the series, Evans reflected on his four seasons in Tuscaloosa including his recruitment to Alabama out of Auburn High School, the championships with the Crimson Tide, returning for his senior season and looked ahead to his NFL career including hiring Drew Rosenhaus as his agent.

Earlier in the month, Evans and the Crimson Tide won the program’s 17^th national championship with a 26-23 overtime victory over Georgia. The Auburn native detailed how the loss to Auburn grabbed the attention of the team.

“It was a wake-up call. I feel like it was really the best thing that could have happened to our team.” Evans said. “Even though we had been through so much adversity through some injuries and all of those things, I feel like we needed a wake-up call. We needed for somebody to kind of wake us up and make us realize that you can beaten at any time regardless of how good you think you are.”

“Coach Saban at that time, he did just a phenomenal job of just getting our minds back right and really, just to be honest with you, starting from scratch.” Evans said.
