Alabama redshirt sophomore defensive back Kameron Howard announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal on Saturday, just five days before the Tide's matchup with the Indiana Hoosiers in the Rose Bowl.

Howard, a 5-foot-11, 195-pound defensive back from Clinton, Maryland, originally committed to the Charlotte 49ers out of high school, where 247 Sports rated him as a three-star prospect. He was unranked as a transfer player from Charlotte after spending one season with the 49ers, and committed to Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer on April 27, 2024. During his time with Charlotte, he saw action in all 12 games with two starts as a true freshman, making 48 tackles and recording two interceptions and a pass breakup.

Howard redshirted during his first season with Alabama in 2024, but did appear in four games, notching two tackles and seeing reps on defense and special teams. In 2025, he only saw action in two games, totaling two tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss for the Crimson Tide. His two game appearances came against the ULM Warhawks and the Wisconsin Badgers.

Howard is the second Alabama player to announce his transfer portal intentions, with former four-star wide receiver Aeryn "Bubba" Hampton announcing his transfer intentions earlier during the season. It is currently unclear if Howard will remain with the team through the remainder of the playoffs.

Alabama will face top-seeded Indiana in the Rose Bowl on Thursday, January 1, 2026, in Pasadena, California. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. CT.
