No. 14 LSU sits at 6-2, just on the outside looking in when discussing the 12-team College Football Playoffs. If LSU hopes to make the expanded field, they'll have to upset the No. 11 Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday, but the Tigers won't be at full strength.

LSU head coach Brian Kelly confirmed on Monday that LSU starting left guard Garrett Dellinger had tight-rope surgery, meaning he will miss the Tigers' matchup with the Crimson Tide.

Dellinger had started every game of the season so far for the Tigers and had not given up a sack all year. The Tigers' starting five along the offensive line had not given up any sacks prior to the loss to Texas A&M, according to PFF. The senior had started games for LSU in every season while in Baton Rouge.

Dellinger was injured during the 38-23 loss to the Aggies. His replacement was Paul Mubenga, a redshirt freshman from Buford, Georgia.

Much like LSU, Alabama is also dealing with injuries ahead of the highly-anticipated matchup.
