The shuffling of assistant coaches since the end of the 2015 continues for both Alabama and Auburn.

Auburn’s Gus Malzahn hired former Auburn quarterback Kodi Burns to replace another former Auburn quarterback in Dameyune Craig from the 2015 coaching staff.

During his weekly segment on Inside the Locker Room, AL.com’s Matt Scalici detailed a possible reason for Craig to leave his alma mater for LSU was for a future opportunity to be an offensive coordinator.

“I think he felt like there was not going to be an opportunity for him to become an offensive coordinator any time soon at Auburn, and I think he probably feels like if that’s the case, then he needs to start moving around and doing some different things.”

Although Alabama has yet to make an official announcement, reports suggest that former UCF offensive coordinator Brent Key will join the Alabama coaching staff. According to Scalici, the expected hiring of Key brings added knowledge of recruiting in the state of Florida but could shake up the staff possibly involving Bobby Williams.
