Fans could be heard sniffling and hats were seen being removed in the packed stands as this tragic loss deepens the meaning of sports for many. Although both teams playing are opponents of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, it is evident the energy in Coleman Coliseum goes out to the families and friends impacted by Leach.

Along with Tide Hoops, coach Nick Saban spoke out about his late friend. Saban touched on how he never knew what their conversations would entail, but they always made him smile. Spoken like a true pirate.

Mike Leach's love for the game and irreplaceable spirit will truly be missed. His legacy will live on in all of those whose hearts beat for sports.

Leach once said, "[If] you’re doing the same old thing that everybody else is doing, that’s who you become — everybody else."
This quote held true throughout the duration of his life, as he was far from just being like everybody else.

The Alabama vs. Memphis game will not be remembered as just another Tuesday, but a reminder as of why the love of sports is so impactful.
