Nate Oats Attends Game of 2024 Recruit
At the GBCA Live event held by the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (GACA), a handful of coaches around the southeast came to see 2024 basketball prospect Derrion Reid. Nate Oats was listed as one of the coaches in attendance as he continues to build up his 2024 class.
Throughout the event, Reid was seen as one of the biggest risers on teams recruiting boards after showing a variety of different skills in each of the games he has played so far. In his first game, he lead all scorers with 29 points, including five made 3-pointers and put up a +/- of 15.
The 2024 prospect has yet to be rated on 247 Sports and will make his first appearance when the rankings are updated next week. However, he is projected to be highly rated when they are released.
The 6-foot-7, 180-pound small forward has shown flashes of greatness but is being admired for his all-around approach to the game and willingness to impact his team's success in ways other than scoring the basketball.
His shooting and versatility fall in line with the type of players Oats has recruited in the past because of the automatic green light from deep every player seems to have in his system.
After a 2021 season that showed how good an Alabama team could be on the defensive side of the ball, this past season saw the team struggle on that end of the floor, and coach Oats emphasized the lack of effort and focus that made them a powerhouse the year prior. By adding another long versatile wing to the roster, Oats appears to be bolstering his unit.
Currently, seven schools are eyeing the prospect and have extended him an offer. These schools include Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Georgia State, Kennesaw State, Xavier and Cincinnati.
