The Crimson Tide struck early in the first inning when a stolen base and a throwing error allowed Audrey Vandagriff to reach third base with no outs. The stolen base was her 40th of the season, tying Kelly Kretschman's 1998 record for the 10th spot in Alabama's single-season history.

A sac fly RBI then brought Vandagriff home, giving the Crimson Tide a 1-0 lead. However, the Aggies quickly responded in the bottom of the first, as Kennedy Powell slid under a tag at home plate to tie the game 1-1.

The Crimson Tide regained the lead in the top of the fourth inning when Catelyn Riley launched a solo home run, making it 2-1. The Aggies had several chances to equalize or take the lead, but the Crimson Tide's defense, along with Emily Winstead striking out three batters in the bottom of the fourth, kept them in control.

In the top of the sixth, the Crimson Tide aimed to extend their lead when Brooke Ellestad was hit by a pitch and pinch hitter Lauren Johnson reached on a bunt, putting two runners on and no outs. Initially, the Crimson Tide appeared to go up 3-1 after a runner stole at home, but the call was overturned leaving the score at 2-1 as the Aggies came to bat.

In the bottom of the sixth, Jocelyn Briski entered the game and effectively closed the inning with two consecutive strikeouts. The Crimson Tide tried to increase their lead in the seventh inning but were unable to do so. The Aggies attempted a comeback in the final moments, but the Crimson Tide's defense held strong, securing a 2-1 victory.

The Crimson Tide will return to the field for Game 3 against the Aggies on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT. Fans can watch the game on ESPN and listen via Catfish 100.1.
