Pair of Alabama Stars Placed on National Awards Watch List
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — A tandem of Crimson Tide stars, shortstop Justin Lebron and closing pitcher Carson Ozmer, have been named to two respective College Baseball Foundation award watch lists, the organization announced early Friday afternoon.
The College Baseball Foundation is a nonprofit organization that aims to preserve the sport's history while educating the next generation of college baseball fans.
Lebron, Alabama's superstar shortstop, was named to the Brooks Wallace Award watch list, which annually honors the top collegiate shortstop in the nation. The honor gets its namesake from former Texas Tech shortstop Brooks Wallace, who played for the Red Raiders from 1977 to 1980. Wallace tragically passed away at the age of 27 due to Leukemia.
The Miramar, Fla., native has been Alabama's everyday shortstop for the past two years. Through the first 39 games of the 2025 campaign, Lebron is batting .325 with 12 doubles, 15 home runs, and 21 walks. Lebron is currently tied for the nation lead in RBIs with 58 to his name.
Lebron is one of 100 collegiate shortstops placed on the watch list.
Ozmer, the Crimson Tide's main closer out of the bullpen, was named to the Pitcher of the Year watch list, which, as its name suggests, annually recognizes the best collegiate pitcher in the country.
Ozmer possesses a 1.12 ERA over his 19 appearances this season, both of which are team-bests. Ozmer also owns 12 saves to his name, tying the top mark for Division 1 pitchers thus far.
The UPENN transfer is one of 54 pitchers on the list.
Watch Lebron and Ozmer in action Friday at 6 p.m. CT as Alabama takes on LSU in Baton Rouge on ESPN2.
