With the conclusion of spring practice, let's revisit an exercise on the Crimson Tide's roster that we did before spring practice. Now that Alabama's concluded spring practice, what would our projection look like for the Crimson Tide's starting offense if Alabama had to play a game this coming Saturday?

Quarterback: Keelon Russell (Redshirt Freshman)

Backup: Austin Mack (Redshirt Junior)
Bench: Jett Thomalla (Freshman), Tayden-Evan Kaawa (Freshman)

Russell dazzled on Saturday during the Tide's A-Day scrimmage with over 220 yards and four touchdowns. He's come a long way since being a three-star quarterback commit to SMU, and it may pay off for the Crimson Tide if he builds on a strong performance from Saturday. Redshirt junior Austin Mack was dinged up, limiting the action he saw on A-Day. Combining Mack's questionable status with Russell's strong day and great week in practice, if Alabama had to play East Carolina this Saturday, I feel confident saying Russell would be the first quarterback on the field.

Running Back: Daniel Hill (Jr.)

In Rotation: Kevin Riley (R-So.), AK Dear (R-Fr.)
Bench: EJ Crowell (Fr.), Trae'Shawn Brown (Fr.)

Daniel Hill has largely led the Crimson Tide's running back room all spring, and looks faster compared to last season, without losing any of his strength. Hill was the Tide's de facto RB1 last season when Jam Miller couldn't go, but we also saw Kevin Riley get good reps before an injury against Eastern Illinois held him out until the playoffs. There is a lot of pressure on the Tide's running back room to improve from where it was last season, and a one-two punch of Daniel Hill's power and Kevin Riley's shiftiness could certainly provide positive runs for Alabama. AK Dear is a weapon out of the backfield, and we saw good things from former three-star signee Trae'Shawn Brown during spring. An unfortunate injury kept EJ Crowell from participating in much of spring practice, but if he were fully healthy, I'd expect him to be in the Tide's running back rotation. However, if Alabama had to play a game this Saturday, Crowell's status would be in doubt.

Tight End: Kaleb Edwards (So.)

In Rotation: Josh Ford (R-So.), Marshall Pritchett (So.)
Bench: Mack Sutter (Fr.), Danny Lewis Jr. (Sr.)

Kaleb Edwards was a reliable target for Alabama last season, even more so when the Crimson Tide was without Josh Cuevas in the SEC championship, with three receptions for 42 yards. Behind him, sophomore Marshall Pritchett has had a really good spring for the Crimson Tide, emerging as another top receiving threat with a touchdown from Russell on A-Day. Oklahoma State transfer Josh Ford has been an imposing blocker for the Crimson Tide's run game. While the production isn't at an elite level, Alabama should not be concerned about its tight end room in 2026. Freshman Mack Sutter has also put in work this spring, so if Alabama does suffer an injury, the Crimson Tide should be in good hands with that room. Senior Danny Lewis Jr. also missed spring with injuries.

Wide Receiver: Ryan Coleman-Williams (Jr.), Lotzeir Brooks (So.), Cederian Morgan (Fr.)

In Rotation: Rico Scott (R-So.), Derek Meadows (So.)
Bench: MJ Chirgwin (Gr.), Maurice Mathis Jr. (Fr.), Tyler Henderson (Jr.)
Injured: Noah Rogers (R-Jr.)

This is likely Alabama's deepest room on offense, with Ryan Coleman-Williams a play-by-play explosive threat, Lotzeir Brooks an emerging star in college football (Former NFL head coach Jon Gruden called him one of, if not, the best player on Alabama's roster last season), and Cederian Morgan is going to be hard to keep off the field, even as a true freshman. Alabama likes to rotate at receiver, and Rico Scott and Derek Meadows both played meaningful snaps for the Crimson Tide last season. Noah Rogers was having an explosive spring camp before an unfortunate injury during A-Day will sideline him until sometime during the season. Alabama will add freshmen Aubrey Walker and Amari Sabb to that room over the summer, providing a little more depth to the room, but the loss of Rogers may hurt the Tide's receiving rotation early in the season. Still, though, Alabama's mix of skill sets at receiver should provide plenty of opportunity for whoever starts at quarterback.

Offensive Line (Left to Right): Jackson Lloyd (R-Fr.), William Sanders (R-So.), Racin Delgatty (R-Jr.), Michael Carroll (So.), Jayvin James (R-Jr.)

Reserves: Tyrell Miller (So.), Nick Brooks (So.), Kaden Strayhorn (R-Fr.), Mal Waldrep Jr. (R-Fr.), Ethan Fields (R-Jr.)
Bench: Ty Haywood (R-Fr.), Chris Booker (Fr.), Casey Poe (R-So.), Bryson Cooley (Fr.)

Alabama's offensive line is under immense pressure for the 2026 season after the poor performance in 2025. Alabama responded by overhauling the room, with 11 new players and a new position coach. The Crimson Tide's line looked promising on A-Day, but still missed a handful of assignments and, on the stat sheet, had a poor day creating lanes in the run game for Alabama's running backs. The Crimson Tide will have a brand new starting five from last season, with the projected lineup only having one returning starter (Michael Carroll), but playing him at a new position (right guard) after he ended the season as Alabama's starting right tackle. The benefit of Alabama's current projected offensive line is that, while a handful of the players are draft eligible, they should return most of the starters and depth pieces for the 2027 season with a full year of starting experience under their belt. We can already pencil in three of the starters, with offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb naming Jackson Lloyd the starter at left tackle, and in the same media availability, saying Racin Delgatty had the reins at center. We also know that with Michael Carroll returning, he will start for Alabama in 2026, but where is yet to be determined. He's gotten reps at both right guard and right tackle, and is an All-American candidate at both spots.

We'll take a look at Alabama's defense tomorrow and project what that lineup could look like for the Crimson Tide.
