Alabama's running back rotation has been in flux during he first half of the seaosn. Running back Jam Miller was injured during the first three games of the season, and suffered a concussion late in Alabama's win over Missouri. Kevin Riley took the reins early in the season as the Tide's starting tailback in Miller's place, and when Miller got hurt against Missouri and didn't look right on Saturday against Tennessee, Daniel Hill stepped up as the bellcow for the Crimson TIde.

Hill was also dealing with an injury early in the season, but has put together a pair of nice games, with two touchdowns (one rushing, one receiving) in Alabama's last two wins. His production has helped propel Alabama to wins, and in a 'production based' business, Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb says those results will increase Hill's playing time on Saturdays.

"We’re in a production-based business. Daniel certainly did that at the end of the game, I thought," Grubb said on Monday. "He brought a spark to the run game, some broken tackles, good vision and patience in the screen game. Daniel’s a talented kid. We’ve kind of been waiting for him to get healthy and show out some of the things he did this spring for us. So it was exciting to see him step up in that spot.”

Hill caught a touchdown (which ended up being the game-sealing touchdown) against Missouri in Alabama's 27-24 win over the Tigers. A week later, Hill had the second most carries of Alabama running backs, rushing for 34 yards and a touchdown on seven attempts (avg. 4.9 yards per carry). He also caught one pass for 16 yards.

On the season, Hill has rushed 19 times for 73 yards and two touchdowns. He's also caught four passes for 29 yards and a score. Hill, a 244-pound sophomore from meridian, Mississippi, has worked his way into the Tide's top-three rotation at running back alongside Jam Miller and Kevin Riley. Alabama will need his legs fresh as the Crimson Tide looks to improve on a 6-1 record in the back half of the season, with the Crimson Tide in pursuit of an SEC championship appearance and its first appearance in the 12-team College Football Playoffs.
