SEC Suspends Summer Camps
Everyone has their eye on football season in the fall and many are wondering if it will be played on time. The South Eastern Conference put a dent in those hopes today when it announced more cancellations. The SEC suspended all in-person camps and coaches clinics thru July 31.
While this does not necessarily affect athletes who are in school at the moment, it does affect schools recruiting; particularly Alabama. Coach Nick Saban likes to see high school players in person at his football skills camp prior to offering scholarships. The Crimson Tide Foundation/Nick Saban Football Camp was scheduled to be held from May 31- June 2.
Coach Saban already had his coaching clinic cancelled due to the COVID-19 coronavirus and now it appears his most valuable summer camp is facing cancellation and or rescheduling.
Saban's coaching clinic was scheduled for April 2-4 and had several prominent coaches slated to speak and teach. That even was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was not rescheduled.
