Stillman College had an impressive athletic season in 2024-2025, with its men's basketball, women's basketball, and softball teams all winning regular season championships. But that wasn't all; Stillman produced five teams which qualified to the NAIA national qualifiers, and the college added more hardware on Thursday to cap off an extraordinary year of athletics.

Other notable accomplishments for the college this year were the women's volleyball team, which was reintroduced in 2022, earning its first win and conference tournament appearance since 2016, and Stillman's baseball program finishing third in the conference and earning its most wins since 2014.

Whittle also oversaw Stillman hosting the 2025 Hope Credit Union HBCU Athletic Conference Basketball Championships on the Stillman campus for the second straight year.

Stillman's sports director, who took over in 2021, has made academics a priority for his athletes, with the athletic department maintaining a 3.12 GPA in the Fall 2024 semester.

Whittle thanked all the ones who helped him achieve this accomplishment, with the athletic director saying, “"This award is not possible without the hard work, commitment, and dedication from our coaches and staff and the success we have experienced this season both athletically and academically," Whittle said. "It is an honor and privilege to witness and celebrate each of our teams, coaches, and student-athletes' success this season, and I look forward to the continued work that we are charged to do each day for Stillman College." Following winning the award in New Orleans, Louisiana, Thursday.
