Texas A&M Aggies Softball Rally Back to Defeat Alabama on Friday
COLLEGE STATION, Texas- On Friday, the No. 24 Alabama softball team clashed with the No. 6 Texas A&M Aggies in what promised to be an exhilarating start to a Top 25 Southeastern Conference series.

In a tightly contested match, neither team scored until the Crimson Tide broke the deadlock in the top of the third inning, with Salen Hawkins scoring on a sacrifice fly RBI. The Aggies responded in the fourth inning when Mac Barbara tied the game 1-1 with a base hit that brought Kelsey Mathis home.
The Crimson Tide aimed to secure a victory against one of the nation's top 10 teams in the first game, having limited the Aggies to just one run. In the fifth inning, Hawkins hit her second double of the day, driving in Marlie Giles from third base to regain the lead (2-1). Audrey Vandagriff then hit a two-run homer, extending Alabama's advantage to 4-1, seemingly putting them in control.
However, the Aggies began to fight back in the bottom of the fifth, with Koko Wooley's RBI groundout narrowing the score to 4-2.
The Aggies continued their momentum, as Mya Perez hit a solo home run in the sixth inning, reducing the deficit to one run. They then took the lead with a two-run homer from Barbara later in the same inning. The Aggies managed to keep the Crimson Tide scoreless for the rest of the game, ultimately winning 5-4.
The second game of the series between the Crimson Tide and Aggies is set for Saturday at 4 p.m. CT, available for streaming on the SEC Network and for listening on Catfish 100.1.
