Former Alabama tight end Cameron Latu has been selected with the No. 101 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft by the San Fransisco 49ers. Latu is the eighth Alabama alumnus to be selected in the 2023 NFL Draft, joining Bryce Young, Will Anderson, Jahmyr Gibbs, Brian Branch, Tyler Steen, Byron Young, and Jordan Battle.

The edge rusher turned tight end was a 4-star in the 2018 recruiting cycle, garnering national attention. Latu committed to Alabama in August of 2017.

After three years on the Alabama bench, Latu broke onto the scene in his redshirt junior campaign, hauling in 26 receptions for 410 yards and eight touchdowns, providing a safety blanket for now Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young.

In his senior season, Latu snagged 30 passes for 377 yards and four touchdowns, providing a consistent weapon for the Tide in 2023.

While Latu may not be a Day One starter in the NFL, the 6-foot-5 tight end will provide the Niners elite depth at the tight end position, as he learns how to be apart of an NFL squad.
