Tide Captains Happy With Honor
It's a big deal when your teammates elect you captain. It's a bigger deal when you play for a yearly national title contender and 30-time SEC champion program.
"It’s just a blessing to lead the group of guys that we have," outside linebacker Dallas Turner said this week about his captain's role. "It’s just something that’s going to be set in stone forever, we come back and put our hands in cement in stuff like that. It’s a big accomplishment, it’s a blessing and I’m just grateful to lead a group of guys like that."
"To me, that’s like kind of the biggest honor you can receive here," senior safety Malachi Moore said. "Just being looked at by your teammates and your brothers as a person who leads by example and somebody they can look up to that does the right thing, yeah, it’s truly an honor to be voted a captain by my teammates."
Quarterback Jalen Milroe was the third Tide player elected as a 2023 captain.
The three captains are leading their teammates in preparation for the Jan. Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. The Crimson Tide is seeded fourth and will take on No. 1 seed Michigan.
The three 2023 captains will try to lead their team to a win over the Wolverines to set up a berth in the national championship game to be played Jan. 8 in Houston.
