On the back of another stellar pitching performance, the Alabama Crimson Tide knocked off the previously undefeated Texas A&M Aggies by a final score of 6-2 in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader inside the Hoover Met. The Tide scored four runs in the bottom of the first, and fought off multiple comeback attempts by the Aggies to seal the win. After splitting today’s twinbill, the Tide improves to 13-9 on the season, while the Aggies drop to 24-1.

Tide starter Geoffrey Bramblett earned his fourth victory of the season after holding the Aggies to just two runs (one earned) on seven hits over 7.0 quality innings. Ray Castillo entered the game in the top of the eighth and recorded the final six outs to notch his third save of the season.

First baseman Chance Vincent sparked the Tide’s offense in the bottom of the first, driving a two-run triple to the gap in right field to stake the Tide to an early 3-0 advantage. Leadoff man Chandler Avant turned in a three-hit performance, going 3-5 with a double and two RBI.

Following this weekend’s action, the Tide will head to Mobile on Tuesday to face off with the South Alabama Jaguars.
