Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs forced his league-leading 10th interception in a 21-6 victory over the New York Giants. Diggs is tied for the most by any player in the last 40 seasons and he still has three games remaining. The last player with 11 interceptions was former Cowboys cornerback Everson Walls in 1981.

Diggs has more interceptions by himself this season than 13 NFL teams. Dallas also became the first team to have teammates record double-digit picks (Trevon Diggs) and sacks (Micah Parsons) since the 2007 Chargers.

“It’s a blessing,” Diggs said. “I’m happy. That was actually my goal for the season this year. I’m happy I reached it, but I didn’t know that I was going to reach it. It’s just a blessing. I’m truly just happy that I can represent the Star, represent my team and just go out there and give it all I’ve got.”

Diggs intercepted an underthrown pass in the end zone by Giants quarterback Mike Glennon intended for Kenny Golladay. The play was ruled incomplete on the field, but after a video review, the call was overturned to an interception.

"On that play, the D-line did a great job because they had him," Diggs said. "I thought they were going to sack him and then he got out of the pocket and he just threw it up, and he thought that his player was going to catch it. I knew I caught it. I had possession."

Diggs set a goal of getting 10 interceptions before the season, so what's next for the former Alabama standout?

"I've got to set new goals now," Diggs said. "I'm going to set another one and see if I can accomplish that. But as long as I do what I do on the field, come to the game, come to work, come ready to play, the sky's the limit."

The second-year player has established himself as one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL. Diggs has received the most votes at his position and the fifth-most votes overall from fans in balloting for this season’s Pro Bowl.

"You're seeing a young man really coming into his own," head coach Mike McCarthy said about Diggs. "He's obviously having a great season, but he's done it since he arrived in Dallas. I think when everybody asks about that moment that you have when you see a great player kind of come into his own, it's that last training camp practice of his rookie year. … That was four interceptions in a final training camp practice. It's kind of been that way since. This guy does it every day and he's playing at a really high level with great confidence right now."

The Dallas Cowboys will host the Washington Football Team on Sunday, Dec. 26. Kickoff is set for 7:20 CT and will air on NBC.
