Tua Announces Future Charity Plans
When the Miami Dolphins announced the signing of its number one draft pick, Tua Tagovailoa vocalized many thanks, but assured he'd pay it forward.
Tagovailoa signed his designated rookie deal which will pay him over $30 million over four years, with an additional $23 million with a fifth-year team option. In addition to his now regular paycheck, the rookie quarterback has four national endorsement deals with Adidas, Bose, Muscle Milk, and Wingstop.
Even after buying his mother a Cadillac for Mother's Day and settling his affairs to settle in Florida, it's safe to say Tagovailoa will have plenty of funds to support his new ventures in charity.
Tagovailoa and his family have never been shy about their faith. Tua's announcement of his new number one jersey spoke to his Christian background.
The former Crimson Tide star has been vocal about his intentions to give back in the past, telling the 700 Club in April, "You know my faith is what keeps me motivated when I can’t even stay motivated myself. I’m just trying to play football, just trying to be able to take care of my family and be able to use my platform for the right reasons.”
Everyone is aware of the character of Tua Tagovailoa. His impeccable skill on the field and his tremendous faith endeared him to Crimson Tide fans in a real and unique way. The attitude in which Tagovailoa carries himself impacted head coach Nick Saban in a manner that has been visible to Bama fans over the past three years.
“There’s a spirit about him that has impacted myself and everybody around him in a very, very positive way,” Saban said when Tagovailoa announced he'd be entering the 2020 NFL Draft.
It's safe to say one day Tua Tagovailoa could be a Walter Payton Man of the Year winner, an honor given to a select NFL player for his overwhelming charitable work off the field.
In the same interview with The 700 Club, Galu, Tua's father, summed up the family's attitude and intentions on giving back.
“It’s all about giving back and being obedient to the things, you know, that will make you successful in life.”
