Tuscaloosa, Alabama Native Brian Robinson Named to Doak Walker Watch List
Alabama redshirt senior Brian Robinson Jr. has been recognized as a member of the 2021 Doak Walker Award Watch List. The Doak Walker Award is given to acknowledge the nation's top running back. The award has been in existence since 1989 and is named in honor of the 1948 Heisman Trophy winner Doak Walker.
Robinson has spent his time at The Capstone backing up Najee Harris, Damien Harris, Josh Jacobs and Bo Scarbrough. Robinson enters the year with 1,361 career rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground, he's averaged five yards per carry throughout his college career. He's also added 17 receptions for 150 yards out of the backfield.
The Crimson Tide has boasted three other Doak Walker award winners, Trent Richardson in 2011, Derrick Henry in 2015 and Najee Harris in 2020.
Robinson is a Tuscaloosa native and a graduate of Hillcrest High School. He was a 4-star prospect and considered the No. 8 running back in the class of 2017. He will lead a crowded running back room this season that also includes Jase McClellan, Roydell Williams, Trey Sanders and Camar Wheaton.
The Crimson Tide may rely heavier on the running game in 2021 with new offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien attack defenses with new Alabama quarterback Bryce Young.
