Another week, another accolade for Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson, who was named a semifinalist for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award and the Maxwell Award on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

On Wednesday afternoon, Simpson added to his list of accolades, being named a semifinalist for the 2025 Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award.

 

 

Joining Simpson as semifinalists are 19 other quarterbacks across college football and four others from the SEC:

CJ Carr, Notre Dame
Trinidad Chambliss, Ole Miss
Joe Fagano, UConn
Blake Horvath, Navy
Haynes King, Georgia Tech

Fernando Mendoza, Indiana
Darian Mensah, Duke
Drew Mestemaker, North Texas
Dante Moore, Oregon

 

Simpson ranks second in the SEC in passing yards with 2,461 on the season, and is tied for first in the SEC with 21 passing touchdowns. He's also added two scores on the ground for the Crimson Tide while throwing just one interception on the season. He currently has the fourth-best odds to win the Heisman Trophy, with +800 odds. He currently sits behind Mendoza, Reed, and Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin.
