When Alabama takes the field against Colorado State on Saturday, the game will hit close to home for punter JK Scott.

The senior grew up just an hour down the road from Fort Collins in Denver and he still has a couple friends on the Rams' roster.

"I keep in touch with them every once in a while," Scott said. "I saw them when I went home for May. Yeah, they're doing good. They're good guys.

"I know a lot of people actually that go to that school just because a lot of people from my high school went there."

Scott has been one the country's top punters since earning the starting job at Alabama as a true freshman in 2014, but staying close to home wasn't even an option for him.

"Actually, Colorado State didn't even recruit me," Scott said. "The only time I've ever been to Colorado State, like to Fort Collins, is for soccer, when I used to play soccer. We used to have soccer tournaments up there."

Through two games in 2017, Scott his averaging just 37.3 yards per punt, which is nearly 10 yards fewer than his career average.

"The things I'm focusing on are conservative angles and just swinging aggressively," Scott said. "Because the way my body is, when I swing aggressively at the ball, that's when I'm going to hit my best ball. And that's when I'm going to be consistent."

Alabama and Colorado State will kickoff at 6 p.m. inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. The game can be heard on Tide 102.9 with pregame coverage beginning at 1 p.m.
