Bama in the NFL: Week Five Recap
Week five of the 2025 NFL season ended with an exciting matchup between the chiefs and the Jaguars. The other games from this past weekend's slate were great games too, with a few blowouts and a few upsets. Lets break them down and see how the ex-Bama players around the league shaped these games.
Vikings - 21 at Browns - 17:
Jerry Jeudy (Browns) - Quite the shutdown from the Vikings defense. Jeudy caught two passes for 15 yards. Again the Browns have yet to score more than 17 points in a game all year. With rookie Gabriel getting the start at qb for the Browns, this was likely the main factor in Jeudy having a less than stellar game. Looks to be a tough season for Jeudy.
Will Reichard (Vikings) - Making all three extra points for the Vikings, he was not able to cash in on the one 50 yard attempt, and only field goal attempt on the day. He is still one of the best young legs in the game so don't worry about his roster spot.
Dolphins - 24 at Panthers - 27:
Bryce Young (Panthers) - Despite throwing an interception and having a fumble, the Panthers were still able to find a way to win. This was a great game to watch and one in which Bama players were all over the field. Bryce threw two touchdowns and completed 63% of his passes. a modest showing but one in which he was able to lead his team to a big win.
Tua Tagovailoa (Dolphins) - Tua played his best game of the season so far. Tossing three touchdowns and completing 75% of his passes. His defense continues to let him down by allowing the rushing offense to do as they wish, yet again. Tua found his tight end in the end-zone twice and Waddle once, and with Hill out Waller may be his new favorite end-zone target.
Jaylen Waddle (Dolphins) - Having his best game of the season too, Waddle caught six passes for 110 yards and a touchdown. His first 100+ yard game of the year. With Hill out he is seeing more volume and will be the main threat for this offense going forward. Two great performances put to waste due to a poor defense.
Broncos - 21 at Eagles - 17:
Jalen Hurts (Eagles) - Hurts had another great day leading this offense. Going up against arguably the best defense in the league, he was still able to make big plays down field without having to use his legs. He hit Smitty for a big gain on a 52 yard pass and Barkley on a bubble that went for 47 to the house. Quite the outing but a tough loss at home.
DeVonta Smith (Eagles) - With Brown getting the shadow from Surtain, Smith had a great day catching 8 balls for 114 yards. His biggest play of the game came from that 52 yard bomb from Hurts. It was an exciting showing from Smith and his first 100+ yard game for him this season too.
Player of the week:
Jaylen Waddle (Dolphins) - Despite the loss he was the clear standout moving the chains this weekend for the Dolphins offense. With Hill out he should continue to be the impact player for this team.
That does it for the week five recap. Check back Thursday for the week six outlook!
