Watch C.M. Newton’s Last Television Interview from WVUA in 2016

Former Alabama basketball coach C.M. Newton passed away at the age of 88 this week and left behind an incredible legacy in the sport of basketball.

Brought in by Bear Bryant in 1968, Newton brought Crimson Tide basketball to prominence in the 70s. He guided the program to its first NCAA Tournament appearance, won three straight SEC titles, and won more than 200 games in 12 seasons. He created a culture of success for basketball alongside a dominant football program before retiring to work for the SEC.

Newton's career spans multiple decades as a player, coach and administrator in the sport of college basketball and he made a lasting impact during his life. One of the last conversations he had on video came with Gary Harris of WVUA two years ago. Harris followed Newton's career for many years and spent nearly 30 minutes reflecting on those memories with the former coach.
