It seems so long ago when the Men's Basketball national championship was ongoing and John Calipari left the Kentucky Wildcats for the Arkansas Razorbacks. When the news came out, Alabama fans were afraid the Crimson Tide could be searching for a new head coach if Nate Oats took the Kentucky job.

Before Purdue and UConn tipped off, Alabama fans had their fears put to bed when Nate Oats and Greg Byrne released a joint statement on the upcoming things regarding the basketball program.

"NIL is at the forefront, as is the day-to-day development space for our team, which we are taking steps to address as we speak..."

The day-to-day development space seems to be a new practice facility and rehabilitation center added on to Coleman Coliseum, per the UA Board of Trustees meeting agenda and Tuscaloosa News reporter Nick Kelly.

"Consideration of Resolution approving the preliminary project scope and budget; granting authorization to execute an Owner/Architect Agreement for the Coleman Coliseum Basketball Training & Player Development Facility Expansion and Renovation at UA (Stage I & Stage II)."

The news is not regarding a new stadium, but rather, improving the current facilities. Strong facilities are something that is important to Nate Oats, who is coming fresh off of a contract extension and the first Final Four run in program history.

The new arena was originally announced in February 2022, when the proposed cost was around $183 million. A year later, that number jumped to $250 million because of inflation.
