Alabama women's basketball hosted Sam Houston to Coleman Coliseum for Tuesday night hoops and delivered a dominant performance, defeating the Bearkats 73-36, marking the fewest points scored by an opponent this season. This matchup was the third meeting between the two programs, with the Crimson Tide improving to 3-0 all-time while extending their undefeated start to 12-0–the best start to a season in program history.

Alabama accomplished this feat despite being without impact starter Essence Cody, who missed her third consecutive game due to a lower-leg injury. In her absence, the Crimson Tide has relied on Naomi Jones, who has been filling Cody's shoes fairly well.

Jones has scored in double digits in her three games as a starter and has averaged seven or more rebounds, mirroring a balanced scoring and defensive pressure from start to finish.

During Tuesday night's victory, the Crimson Tide wasted no time asserting control. After winning the opening tip, Jones scored Alabama's first basket of the night, setting the tone early.

By the 8:15 mark of the first quarter, three of Alabama's five starters–Jones, Ta'Mia Scott, and Jessica Timmons–had already found the score sheet. Alabama jumped out to a 14-2 lead within the first five minutes, forcing Sam Houston into tough shots and early frustration. The BearKats briefly threatened to cut into the margin, but the Crimson Tide closed the quarter strong to take a 21-10 advantage.

Alabama continued to apply pressure in the second quarter. Lourdes Da Silva Costa opened the period with a basket, and the Crimson Tide quickly pushed the lead past 30 after Timmons scored and converted at the free-throw line with under seven minutes remaining.

Alabama's offense shined even more while the defense limited Sam Houston's opportunities. With under a minute left in the half, Karly Weathers knocked down a 3-pointer to score her first points of the night. Alabama headed into the locker room with a commanding 47-18 lead.

The Crimson Tide picked up right where they left off in the third quarter. Timmons knocked down a wide-open three early in the period to make it 50-20, then followed with another triple moments later as Alabama continued to stretch the lead. The Crimson Tide's defensive intensity remained present, holding the Bearkats to single-digit scoring in the quarter. Alabama closed the third ahead 61-26, firmly in control.

In the fourth quarter, Alabama rotated deeper into its bench while maintaining composure on both ends of the floor. The Crimson Tide never allowed the Bearkats to gain momentum and ultimately sealed the 73-36 victory.

With the win, Alabama remains 12-0 and continues to build momentum for the month of December.

Alabama will return to Coleman Coliseum on Dec. 18 to face off against Tulane with tipoff at 4 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
