TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama lost two of its tight ends from last season, with veteran Josh Cuevas being one of the key pieces to the Alabama offense last season, now departing for the NFL, and Brody Dalton, the former transfer from Troy, exhausting his eligibility after spending one season with Alabama. Sophomore tight end Kaleb Edwards started five games a season ago for Alabama and will need to step up into the leadership role vacated.

Alabama has become accustomed to finding a new leader in the tight end room after Cuevas stepped up last season. The Crimson Tide lost its top two tight ends from the 2024 season in CJ Dippre and Robbie Outz before 2025. Edwards is expected to step into that role for the Crimson Tide.

After the losses of Cuevas and Dalton, Alabama added one tight end via the transfer portal and one via the high school ranks: former Oklahoma State tight end Josh Ford and four-star tight end Mack Sutter. Ford, a 6-foot-6, 267-pound tight end originally from Stillwater, Oklahoma, played in 16 games across his first two seasons at Oklahoma State, with six starts as a freshman in 2024. During his two seasons in Stillwater, Ford recorded 13 catches for 137 yards and two scores.

"He's a great, great guy. We've hung out a couple times, talked to him every day, I think he's gonna be a beast this year," Edwards said when asked about Ford. Edwards described his skillset as a "running blocker. He's developing in the pass game. He's gonna be a great addition for us."

Sutter, a four-star tight end from Dunlap, Illinois, recorded 35 receptions, 505 yards, and seven touchdowns as a senior. He received over 45 offers and chose the Crimson Tide over Ohio State, Ole Miss, and others. He was a top-five tight end in the 2026 recruiting class.

"He's great," Edwards said of Sutter. "Great player. He's young, got a lot of work to do, but so do all of us. He's gonna be a great player."
