The Crimson Tide will be without its second running back and third leading rusher from the 2024 college football season when it suits up against Michigan on December 31, with Alabama running back Justice Haynes entering the transfer portal earlier in the transfer window.

Haynes now has a home, and it is a familiar opponent to the Crimson Tide, with Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports reporting Justice Haynes has committed to Michigan.

Haynes was the third-leading rusher for Alabama in 2024, totaling 448 yards and seven touchdowns on 79 carries, while adding 17 catches for 99 yards in the receiving game. Haynes's best performance came in Alabama's opening game against Western Kentucky, carrying the ball four times for 102 yards and one touchdown. It was his only 100-yard performance of his Crimson Tide career.

Haynes was a five-star running back from Buford, Georgia, where he committed to the Crimson Tide over the Georgia Bulldogs.

A talented running back standing at 5-foot-11 and 210 pounds, Haynes has been banged up and dealing with injuries for the two seasons he was at Alabama, with Kalen DeBoer alluding to it during one of his weekly press conferences.

"A lot of guys are working through things this season. He's certainly one of them," DeBoer said of Haynes's low usage in Alabama's 24-3 loss to Oklahoma.

Alabama's running back room is still strong, with Jam Miller and Richard Young expected to be the top two options for Alabama's bowl game against Michigan and a plethora of talented and young backs behind them in Daniel Hill and Kevin Riley set to return barring any transfer portal news alongside Akylin Dear signing with Alabama on December 4.
