The Crimson Tide may not have played on November 2, but the results of the day have increased Alabama's positioning in both the Coaches Poll and the AP Poll and its odds of making the 12-team expanded College Football Playoffs.

The Crimson Tide sit at 6-2, with playoff hopes still alive according to ESPn's Football Power Index. Alabama currently holds a 55.5% chance to make the playoffs in the new 12-team format.

Alabama entered the weekend ranked No. 14 in both the AP and Coaches Poll, needing help if it hopes to make the 12-team format. Alabama got the help, with No. 10 Texas A&M losing, No. 11 Clemson losing, and No. 11 Iowa State losing (due to a tie in number of points, both Clemson and Iowa State were ranked No. 11).

In addition to those three teams, four more ranked teams lost on Saturday, with No. 3 Penn State, No. 17 Kansas State, No. 18 Pittsburgh, and No. 24 Illinois all losing.

The results of Saturday's action helped Alabama, with the Crimson Tide rising in the USA Today Coaches Poll and the AP Poll.
