Alabama Softball Grabs Another Player From Transfer Portal
Alabama softball has had a busy summer building its roster with several new stars from the transfer portal. Coach Patrick Murphy's latest addition to the team comes from College Station in the form of a catcher.
Riley Valentine wrapped up her first year of college softball with the Texas A&M Aggies, where she recorded 20 RBIs, 17 runs, and six homers during her times at the plate. Valentine joins Alea Johnson and Kayla Beaver as the latest Team 28 members to come out of the portal. Valentine took to Twitter to express her gratitude to the team.
"Words cannot express how incredibly grateful I am for this opportunity. To take the field with 'Bama' across my chest with my Crimson Tide teammates is something most girls can only dream about. I'm so excited to be part of the Alabama family! Every path leads you to exactly where you're supposed to be. Sometimes the path will be long but it will be worth it! Proverbs 3:5-6"
It will be interesting to see how Valentine's hitting potential will translate over to Alabama's style of play. It is worth noting that as of July 1, teams can now have an extra assistant coach on the staff. Murphy previously stated during the Women's College World Series postgame press conference, that Alabama will be adding a hitting coach to the staff.
