Alabama Softball Improves to No. 16 in NCAA RPI, Remains at 17 and 18 in National Rankings
Alabama softball moved up to No. 16 in this week’s NCAA RPI rankings while it remained at No. 17 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll and No. 18 in the USA Today/NFCA poll.
With a 2-2 record vs. top-10 teams since the last NCAA RPI rankings, the Crimson Tide moved up one spot to No. 16. In the national polls, Alabama remained at No. 18 in the NFCA rankings for the second-straight week and No. 17 in the USA Softball poll for the third-straight week. The Tide is 29-17 overall and 9-12 in conference play heading into its final regular-season series against ninth-ranked Texas A&M this weekend in Tuscaloosa.
All 13 SEC teams are ranked in the top 25 or are receiving votes this week. Ranked teams include Florida (4/4), Georgia (5/6), Tennessee (7/8), Texas A&M (9/10), South Carolina (12/T12), LSU (13/14), Auburn (15/16), Arkansas (16/15), Alabama (18/17), Kentucky (20/19) and Mississippi State (T24/RV). Ole Miss is receiving votes outside the top 25 in the NFCA poll and Missouri is receiving votes in the USA Softball poll.
This weekend, Alabama hosts Texas A&M (40-12, 13-8 SEC) for a three-game series at Rhoads Stadium, starting Friday, May 4 at 7 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
