TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama shortstop Justin Lebron continues to rack up honors and accolades prior to his sophomore campaign in Tuscaloosa.

In addition to earning his third preseason All-American team distinction earlier Friday afternoon, Lebron picked up another honor: the Golden Spikes Award Watchlist — which recognizes the top player annually.

Last season, the Crimson Tide's leadoff man and everyday third baseman, Gage Miller, earned a spot on the Golden Spikes Midseason watchlist.

The list of 55 players nationwide includes seventeen from the SEC, which leads all conferences.

Dave Magadan is the sole winner of the Golden Spikes Award in Alabama program history, winning the award in 1983, where he recorded a .525 batting average, 114 hits, and 31 doubles as a junior.

Lebron shined in his debut season for the Crimson Tide a year ago, batting .338 (73-216), adding twelve home runs, nine doubles, and 37 RBIs.

Lebron earned three freshman All-American honors last season, adding on a first-team All-SEC selection and SEC All-Defensive nod for his efforts during his freshman season.
